Certified coffee at IKEA
Contact: PRCO@memo.ikea.com
At IKEA, it is important that our coffee is produced in a responsible way. That is why all coffee sold at IKEA stores and offices worldwide shall be UTZ Certified and traceable all the way back to the plantations.
UTZ Certified is an independent not-for-profit organization that sets a standard for responsible coffee growing and sourcing, taking both people and the environment into consideration.
To become certified, producers must comply with numerous demands to reduce their impact on the environment. Also, all employees must be trained on health and safety procedures, workers and their families must have access to proper healthcare, and children must have schools to go to.
All coffee sold from an UTZ Certified farm is registered in a web-based system, and IKEA customers can trace individual coffee packages bought in the Swedish Food Market through the web site
www.utzcertified.org/IKEA.Responsibly produced coffee at attractive prices, and improved conditions at the plantations - a win-win situation all the way from the farmer to your coffee cup.
